FCC’s #unlockthebox proposal is too little too late You would need a crystal ball to see what the FCC has in mind with its recent 3-2 vote to proceed with the chairman’s #unlockthebox proposal. Certainly the words in this proposal have just the right feel-good tone, with lots of focus on consumer choice and promoting…Details
Companies should be prepared to operate with a nonlinear mindset On any given day, I encounter some version of truly remarkable statistics about the rise of video on-demand as a percentage of the total amount of viewing. At the recent NextTV Summit ,Jay Samit of Seachange proclaimed that 50 percent of all U.S. viewing…Details
With so much to choose from, why is it so hard to find something to watch? Sometimes too much of a good thing is not a good thing. My wife and I recently wanted to watch a movie when we found ourselves with about two hours between car pool sessions. I was interested in…Details
It is unlikely that anyone reading this post needs to be told that the TV consumption habits of Millennials are dramatically different. A recent study by VideoPulse underscored the fact that their approach is so different that traditional measurement tools don’t even begin to quantify what they are up to. One of the things that has all but disappeared from much of television is compelling, locally produced content. The main reason is cost. Who can afford the studio overhead, staffing and infrastructure? It turns out that now just about anyone can, thanks to Positive Flux client the Video Call Center and its creator Tom Wolzien…Details
